The Role
We are looking for a Transportation On-Site Supervisor to join our Transportation team in our Regina office. In this role you will provide contractor and construction supervision and contract interpretation on roadway projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a project team of 2 – 10 engineers, technicians, and seasonal staff to execute construction administration and contract requirements
- Provide supervision and direction to engineering staff on project site
- Lead the safety culture to ensure safe work practices and policies are upheld and followed
- Review all test results and provide interpretation as required for asphalt concrete testing, granular material analysis, compaction testing, etc.
- Direct and assist survey crews to provide required grading and topographic surveys. Candidates should have the ability to perform surveys as required.
- Conduct field and lab material testing (aggregate, soils) with an emphasis on training other staff
- Performing project management duties which includes communicating with client project managers and contractors’ staff regarding the contract requirements
- Drafting reports and providing interpretation of contract documents and test results
- Knowledge of Saskatchewan Ministry of Highways Construction practices is required
- Performing financial reporting as required by senior managers and clients
- Provide input and guidance to our design teams with preparation of alterations, revisions, and tender packages
- Contributing to a positive safety culture
- Other tasks as required
About You
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in construction supervision for transportation clients in Saskatchewan, with a strong preference for previous work experience with the Heavy construction industry and / or Ministry of Highways projects
- A degree in Engineering (B.Sc.) from recognized college or diploma in Civil Engineering Technologies is preferred but not mandatory. Successful candidate should be registered as a P.Eng. in Saskatchewan or carry designations such as P.Tech, C.E.T, or equivalent. This is not a mandatory requirement but will be considered a strong asset
- Ability to manage project sites, coordinate, and train engineering staff, and provide site supervision as required by the contract
- Ability to adapt to and meet the challenges of a variety of different projects from clients in the transportation industry across Western Canada
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
- Be willing to work long days (up to 13 hrs.) and work away from home for extended period of time
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently, and within tight timelines
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to lift or move 50lbs, stand for lengthy periods, walk over rough terrain, and perform repetitive movements
